Can an AI Answering Service Book Appointments in My Calendar?
Can an AI receptionist book appointments? Yes. Juney checks your Google Calendar for a free time and books it while the caller is still on the line.

TL;DR
- Yes. An AI answering service (AI receptionist) connected to your calendar checks your free time, offers a slot and books it while the caller is on the line.
- Juney books into Google Calendar only, for the length you set, inside your business hours. With the caller's email, Google sends them an invite.
- She moves or cancels only the bookings she made, and doesn't book on voicemail calls.
- First set your hours, a booking length, an honest calendar and a scenario that books.

A booked quote visit beats a message asking you to ring back, because a caller with a time already agreed has less reason to keep calling around. The details below are what decide whether those bookings land where you want them.
How does an AI receptionist book an appointment during a call?
It works out that the caller wants a visit, checks your calendar for free time, offers a slot and books the one the caller agrees to, all before the call ends. The booking shows up in your calendar, and you get a summary of the call.
With Juney, a booking call runs like this:
- The call matches a reason you set to book. A homeowner rings an electrician: "Can someone come and look at putting in an EV charger?" Juney matches that against the example phrases you gave your "Quote visit" scenario.
- She asks your questions. Whatever you added under Asks them, such as the address and what the job is.
- She checks when you're free. She looks at your Google Calendar and offers times that show as free, inside your business hours.
- The caller picks a time. If you've added them under Asks them, she takes their name and an email address for the invite.
- She books it. The job goes into the calendar you chose, for the booking length you set.
- Everyone gets the details. With the caller's email, Google emails them a calendar invite. You get the call summary as a notification on your phone, and by email too if you've turned that on.
Quote visits are the obvious fit for the trades: an EV charger, a water heater replacement or a roof inspection all need someone on site before there's a price. Service calls book the same way when you set that reason to book, so a dead outlet or a slow drain gets a time in your calendar instead of a callback. You can see the calls Juney handles for each trade on the page about Juney for the trades.
What should you set up before it takes its first booking?
Five things: connect the right calendar, set a booking length, set your hours and time zone, keep your calendar honest, and choose which calls get booked. Each one is a few taps in the app, and a booking problem in the first week usually traces back to one of them.
Connect Google Calendar and pick the right calendar
In the Juney tab, tap Calendar, then Continue with Google. Google asks you to allow three things: she sees when you're busy, she adds, moves and cancels the jobs she books, and she leaves everything else alone. Then open Books into and choose the calendar you actually check, for example a work calendar rather than the family one.
Set how long a booking runs
How long she books for offers 15, 30, 45 and 60 minutes, or a custom length anywhere from 15 to 240. One length covers every booking she makes, so choose the one that fits most of your visits. If you need drive time between jobs, build it into that length (the caller's invite then shows the full window). Changes apply from the next call. The full list of calendar switches is in the help article on what Juney does in your calendar.
Set your hours and your time zone
Juney offers bookings only inside the hours you set under Hours in the Juney tab, and she reads those hours against your time zone in Settings → Time zone. Public holidays and your own days off follow the rule you pick for them: Closed means she takes a message, and Shorter hours means she offers only the window you type in.
Keep your calendar honest
She offers any time that shows as free in your calendar. So block out what she can't see: the dentist, a job you booked by text, a day you're on a big install, the hours you don't work.
Choose which calls she books
Juney books only for a scenario that has the Uses your calendar action, which also covers moves and cancellations. Every other call becomes a message, even one where the caller talks about dates. A simple start for a trade business: a "Quote visit" reason that books, an "Emergency" reason that puts the caller through to a second number, and a "Question about a job" reason that takes a message.
What to do: set these five before you forward your calls, then read the help center's tips for booking jobs once.
What happens when the caller wants a time you don't have?
Juney offers only times that show as free inside your hours, so a caller who wants Saturday morning when you're closed, or Tuesday at 10 when you're already booked, won't get it. Because she checks your free time first, she doesn't squeeze them in over another job.
She always takes the caller's number and what they need, so a caller who didn't like any of the offered times still shows up in your call notes. Ring them back and find a time yourself.
If a job is urgent and can't wait for the next free slot, that's a different kind of call. Give it its own scenario that puts the caller through to a number someone answers, such as a second mobile or whoever's on call. That number can't be your business line, because your business line already forwards to Juney. She rings it first and tells whoever answers who's calling and why; if nobody takes it within 20 seconds, she comes back to the caller and takes a message.
What to do: if callers keep asking for times you don't offer (early mornings, say), change your hours or free up those times in your calendar. Otherwise, check each evening for booking calls that ended without a booking, and call those people back.
Can it move or cancel a booking?
Yes, but only the bookings it made. In Juney, the Uses your calendar action covers moves and cancellations as well as bookings: give a scenario phrases like "I need to move my appointment" or "we have to cancel", and she moves or cancels the job in your Google Calendar during the call.
Anything you put in the calendar yourself, she leaves alone. If a customer rings to move a job you booked after a site visit, she won't touch it, and the request reaches you in the call summary instead. If you ever disconnect your calendar, the jobs she already booked stay where they are and she goes back to taking messages.
What if you don't use Google Calendar?
Juney books into Google Calendar and no other calendar. If your bookings live somewhere else, she has two other options: text the caller your online booking link while they're still on the call, or take a message so you can book them yourself.
The booking link works through the Texts them a link action. Add your booking page to it, and she sends the link mid-call and tells the caller she's done it. A few things to know:
- One link for every reason. Every scenario that texts a link uses the same link and message, so change it once and it changes everywhere.
- Withheld numbers. If the caller's number is hidden, she asks for a number to text.
- Landlines. Texts go to the number that called, so a caller on a landline won't get the link.
- Calls only. The link goes out by text, but Juney handles calls, not text conversations.
When won't Juney book a job?
Juney doesn't book on voicemail calls, without a connected calendar, for a reason that isn't set to book, or into a time outside your business hours. Check these first when an expected booking didn't happen.
- Voicemail calls. If your Answering schedule sends a call to voicemail, Juney answers with your voicemail greeting and the caller leaves a recorded message of up to a minute. She doesn't book, quote prices, put anyone through or text links on that call. If you want callers to be able to book, choose an option where Juney is answering normally at the times they ring.
- No calendar connected. She takes a message instead.
- A reason without Uses your calendar. It becomes a message.
- Outside your hours. She only offers times inside your hours. When she's answering at night, a 9 PM caller can book tomorrow morning; when your Answering schedule sends the call to voicemail, the caller leaves a voicemail instead.
- Calls you take yourself. If you've set your phone to ring first for about 15 seconds and you pick up, that booking is yours to make. It only rings while you're signed in to the Juney app; when you're signed out, Juney picks up at once.
- Language. Juney speaks English, with American, British or Australian accent voices.
How do you check the bookings are right?
Book a job yourself before a customer does, then read the first week of booking calls. In the Juney tab, tap Call her yourself and ask for a quote visit. Try a time you know is taken, a day you're closed, and a request to move it afterwards. Test calls don't show in the Calls tab, so check the result in your calendar, and if a test job lands in your calendar, delete it.
Then open Google Calendar and check three things: the job is in the calendar you picked under Books into, it runs for the length you set, and it sits at the time the caller agreed. If something's wrong, the fix is under Calendar in the Juney tab, or in your hours and time zone. Changes apply from the next call.
Booking, moving and canceling come with both Juney plans. As of October 2026, that's $49 a month or $490 a year, 150 minutes included each month, then top-ups of 100 minutes for $20 in the app, which don't expire, and you start on a 7-day free trial with 50 answering minutes. See Juney's pricing for what's included.
Frequently Asked Questions
Will an AI receptionist double-book me?
Not if it checks your calendar first and your calendar is up to date. Juney checks your Google Calendar for free time before she offers a slot. She can't see jobs that aren't in your Google Calendar, so add them there.
Does the caller get a booking confirmation?
When Juney has the caller's email, Google emails them a calendar invite for the booking. You get the call summary. The optional follow-up text to the caller is a thank-you with a summary of the call, not a booking confirmation.
Can different jobs get different booking lengths?
Not in Juney today. One setting, How long she books for, applies to every booking she makes, from 15 to 240 minutes. Pick the length most of your visits need, and adjust a longer job in your calendar afterwards.
Can I see her bookings in the Juney app?
Her bookings go into your Google Calendar, so that's where you see them. Each call's summary in the app tells you who called and what they needed.
