Goodcall alternatives: 6 options compared
Goodcall's per-caller billing suits long calls and loyal customers. The reasons to look at another AI receptionist or answering service are a $79 entry price that a small business may not use, a bill that grows with every new caller, English only, and a setup that runs in the browser.
At 75 two-minute calls from about 60 people, Goodcall costs $79 (October 2026). Below, six alternatives with what each would cost at that volume, who each suits, and the catch.
The alternatives at a glance

| Beside | No cap on AI-answered calls, from an app | $29 a month for 30 calls | $99 | Yes |
| Upfirst | Per-call billing that skips junk calls | $24.95 a month for 30 calls | $59.95 | Yes |
| AIRA | Long calls at a low per-call price | $24.95 a month for 30 calls | $59.95 | Transfers; booking through Zapier |

US dollars a month, from each service's own pricing page (checked October 22, 2026). 75 calls of 2 minutes, on the cheapest plan for that month, before tax and carrier charges.
Why look for a Goodcall alternative?
Public reviews are thin. Goodcall's Trustpilot page has five reviews, three from the past year, all one-star; they describe charges continuing after cancellation and a free plan that ended, and one appears to be about a different product (read October 2026). Five reviews is too few to judge a service by, but it's a reason to check how canceling works before you sign up. Goodcall's pricing page doesn't state contract or cancellation terms.
The rest of the reasons are in its billing:
- A new business pays for room it doesn't use. About 24 callers a month still costs $79.
- New callers cost more than repeat ones. If your work brings a stream of first-time callers, the per-caller count climbs much like a per-call one: $94.80 at 150 calls.
- English only, set up in the browser.
When to stay with Goodcall: your calls run long, many of your callers are regulars, you want transfers that try up to three people, or several team members need access.
The 6 alternatives
Juney: best for short calls from new customers, run from a phone
It meters minutes where Goodcall counts callers, so the bill follows how long calls run, not who makes them: $49 a month for 150 minutes, then top-ups of 100 minutes for $20. Seventy-five two-minute calls cost $49 however many different people make them, against Goodcall's $79. It's set up and run in a phone app rather than a browser, books into Google Calendar, and Ring me first rings you in the Juney app for about 15 seconds. Business numbers in the UK and Australia work as well as US and Canadian ones.
The catch: long calls cost more than at Goodcall, transfers go to one number, and it's English only with no CRM.
Beside: best for no cap on AI-answered calls, from an app
Beside's $99 plan has no cap on the calls its AI receptionist answers, so like Goodcall, a busy month doesn't change the bill. It's built around a phone app, replies to inbound texts as well as calls, rings you in its app before the AI answers, and syncs with HubSpot, Salesforce, Zoho and Follow Up Boss. Up to 20 people can share it. There's also a $29 plan for 30 AI-answered calls; 75 calls cost $99.
The catch: US and Canada lines only, and no trial on the $29 plan.
Upfirst: best for per-call billing that skips junk calls
Upfirst counts calls, but not spam, calls under 15 seconds or calls where nobody speaks: $24.95 a month for 30 calls, so 75 calls cost $59.95. Like Goodcall, it can take calls your carrier forwards when you don't answer, or after hours, and it adds 35+ languages and booking into Google, Outlook, Calendly, Acuity, Square and Clio. Its trial runs 14 days with no card.
The catch: a regular who rings five times counts five times, and it's set up on the web.
AIRA: best for long calls at a low per-call price
AIRA bills per call, so a 12-minute booking costs the same as a 30-second message: $24.95 a month for 30 calls, and 75 calls cost $59.95. That keeps long calls cheap, as Goodcall does, at a lower entry price. It lists 31 languages and includes a built-in CRM and a free AIRA number.
The catch: calendars connect through Zapier, setup is in a web dashboard, and every call counts, including repeat callers.
Marlie: best for plenty of minutes, if you mostly take messages
Marlie meters minutes instead of callers, with a generous allowance: $49 a month for 250 minutes, so 75 two-minute calls cost $49, whoever makes them. That plan takes messages and texts callers a link; booking into Google Calendar or Calendly, and transfers, start at $99 with 500 minutes. Its trial runs 14 days, where Goodcall offers a demo agent.
The catch: the $49 plan doesn't book or transfer, and extra minutes are 35¢.
Rosie: best for spanish-speaking callers on an app-backed plan
Rosie answers in English and Spanish, where Goodcall speaks English only, and pairs its web dashboard with a native iPhone and Android app instead of a browser-only setup. It meters minutes: $49 a month for 250 minutes, so 75 short calls are $49 against Goodcall's $79. To answer first, you can use your carrier's no-answer forwarding.
The catch: that plan doesn't book or transfer, both of which Goodcall's Starter does; they start at $149, and going over moves you up a plan.

How do you switch from Goodcall?
- From last month's calls, note three numbers: total calls, different callers, and average call length. Each billing model uses a different one.
- Price each option on those numbers, on the plan that books and puts callers through.
- Start the new service's trial while Goodcall is still answering.
- Test it with calls of your own: a booking, a price question, an urgent job that should be put through.
- Move your forwarding. If customers ring a Goodcall number, switch them to your own number first.
- Check how canceling works in your Goodcall account, then cancel.
