Comparison

Juney vs Beside: two phone apps, and who each one suits

Beside and Juney are both AI receptionists you set up and run from a phone app, where most services in this category are set up in a web dashboard. Beside is a full business phone line for local businesses, with an AI receptionist that answers calls and texts: $29 a month for 30 AI-answered calls, or $99 with no cap, on US and Canadian lines. Juney is an AI answering service built for the trades that answers the business number you already have, in the US, UK, Australia or Canada, for $49 a month with 150 minutes.

The short answer: pick Beside if customers text you as much as they call, you work in the US or Canada, and you take fewer than 30 or more than about 175 calls a month. Pick Juney if you're in the UK or Australia, or you take between 30 and about 175 calls a month, where her minutes cost less than Beside's step up to $99.

Which should you pick?

Pick Beside if…

  • Customers text you. Beside's AI receptionist replies to inbound texts as well as calls. Juney handles calls only, and the texts she sends (booking links, follow-ups) are no-reply.
  • You take 30 AI-answered calls a month or fewer. Beside's Baseline plan is $29 against Juney's $49.
  • You take more than about 175 calls a month. Beside's $99 plan has no cap on AI-answered calls, while Juney at 250 two-minute calls is $129.
  • You run a CRM or a team. Beside syncs with HubSpot, Salesforce, Zoho CRM and Follow Up Boss, connects to Zapier, and includes up to 20 seats. Juney has no CRM and is one owner's app today.
  • Callers speak Spanish, French or Portuguese. On iPhone, Beside's receptionist handles up to five languages depending on the voice (English only on Android, its help center says). Juney speaks English only.

Pick Juney if…

  • Your business is in Australia or the UK. Beside's help center says its business line, calls, texts and receptionist are US and Canada only. Juney works with business numbers in the US, UK, Australia and Canada, with American, British or Australian voices.
  • You take between 30 and about 175 calls a month. Past 30 AI-answered calls Beside moves you to $99; Juney at 75 two-minute calls is $49 and at 150, $89.
  • You're in the trades. Juney is built for tradespeople answering from the van or the job; Beside is built for local businesses of all kinds, from trades to salons and real estate.
  • You want to try it before you pay. Juney's 7-day trial with 50 minutes comes with its one plan. Beside's $29 plan bills at checkout; its 7-day trial is on the $99 plan.

How do Juney and Beside differ?

Both are built for the phone, so the differences are elsewhere: where each one works, what it answers, how it's priced, and what it does to your phone line. Both book into your calendar, put callers through, send summaries and a daily recap, and let you pick up before the AI does.

US and Canada, or four countries

Beside's help center says its business line, with its calls, texts and receptionist, is US and Canada only. Its mobile app is offered in those two countries too, while its web app works anywhere. Juney works with business numbers in Australia, the United States, the United Kingdom and Canada, and you pick an American, British or Australian voice (Canadian numbers use the American voices).

Calls and texts, or calls only

Beside answers calls and replies to inbound texts by your rules and tone, and adds tools beyond answering: AI search across your calls and texts, follow-up email drafts, voice cloning and contacts the AI never handles. Juney answers calls. She sends texts out, such as a booking link during the call or an optional follow-up, but they're no-reply, and she doesn't read customers' texts. If half your customers text, that alone may decide it.

A capped plan or a per-minute plan

Beside's two web plans have the same features and differ only in AI-answered calls: Baseline is $29 for 30 a month with no trial, and Unlimited $99 with no cap and a 7-day trial (a payment method required). Each includes one line, with extra lines at $4.99 a month. Subscriptions bought in the Android app or in Canada use a separate per-seat plan, at $29.99 a month or $199.99 a year per seat.

Juney has one plan: $49 a month or $490 a year, with 150 minutes, and top-ups of 100 minutes for $20 after that. Both count only what the AI answers: Beside's cap counts AI-answered calls, and Juney's minutes count only calls she takes.

A new business line, or the number you have

Beside is a business phone line in its own right. You can forward calls from your current carrier, port your number to Beside, or take a new Beside number, and your calls and texts then run through its app. Juney answers by call forwarding only: your carrier, plan and number stay as they are, and nothing is ported.

Answering first

Both services can ring you in their apps before the AI answers. Beside's help described a fixed wait, while its pricing page lists a custom ring count; check its current settings before relying on either claim. Juney forwards all calls and Ring me first rings you in the Juney app for about 15 seconds. Calls you take yourself don't use your Juney minutes.

How do the bills add up?

At 30 calls Beside is cheaper: $29 on Baseline against Juney's $49. At 75 calls you're past Baseline's cap, so Beside is $99 against Juney's $49. At 150 calls Beside stays at $99 and Juney is $89 (300 minutes: the 150 included plus two $20 top-ups).

Juney costs less up to 175 two-minute calls, where she comes to $89; one call more takes another top-up, to $109. Above that, Beside's unlimited plan costs less; below 30 calls, its Baseline does. In between, Juney does. AI Answering Service Pricing Compared works the same volumes across 11 services.

How do you switch from Beside to Juney?

  1. Check where your number lives. If you forward your carrier line to Beside, you'll point it at Juney. If you ported your number to Beside, it's now a Beside line; Juney needs it on a phone carrier that can forward calls. If customers know a new Beside number, they'll need your own number.
  2. Decide where texts go. Juney doesn't answer texts, so customers' texts will come to your own phone as they did before Beside.
  3. Start a trial while Beside still answers. Juney's 7-day trial includes 50 minutes.
  4. Set Juney up in the app. Link your website, check her answers, connect Google Calendar, and call her yourself.
  5. Move your forwarding with the app's steps for your carrier, then read the first week of call notes.
  6. Cancel Beside where you subscribed. Its FAQ says plans bought through the App Store or Google Play are managed in that store.
