Which should you pick?

Pick Marlie if…

  • You mostly need messages taken. Marlie's $49 plan has 250 minutes to Juney's 150, so at 150 two-minute calls it's $66.50 against Juney's $89. That plan doesn't book or put callers through.
  • You need booking and take between about 175 and 320 calls a month. Marlie's $99 plan covers 500 minutes, so at 250 calls it's $99 against Juney's $129.
  • You book in Calendly. Marlie's booking, from $99, works with Google Calendar and Calendly; Juney books into Google Calendar only.
  • You want spam screened for you, or a longer trial. Every Marlie plan screens out spam and robocalls, and its trial runs 14 days. Juney has no spam filter (you block numbers by hand) and a 7-day trial with 50 minutes.

Pick Juney if…

  • You want booking and transfers without moving up a plan. Juney books, moves and cancels in Google Calendar and puts urgent callers through for $49. Marlie books and transfers to one number from $99, and cancels bookings from $199.
  • You need booking and take up to about 175 calls a month. At 75 two-minute calls Juney is $49 and Marlie's booking plan $99; at 150, $89 against $99.
  • You go over your minutes now and then. Juney's top-ups are $20 for 100 minutes, and they don't expire; Marlie charges 35¢ a minute on its $49 and $99 plans.
  • You'll set it up and run it from your phone. Marlie is set up in a web dashboard; Juney is set up in the app, and can ring your phone for about 15 seconds first so you take the calls you can.

How do Juney and Marlie differ?

Price isn't the difference: both start at $49 and count minutes. What you get for it is. Marlie gives you more minutes and fewer actions; Juney gives you fewer minutes and every feature.

What the $49 plan does

Marlie's Basic plan: 250 minutes, then 35¢ a minute. It answers 24/7, takes messages with your own questions, texts callers a link (one action per call), sends a summary by email and text to two people, and screens out spam. Its plan table says "No call transfer", and it doesn't book.

Juney's plan: 150 minutes, then top-ups of 100 minutes for $20, bought in the app. It answers 24/7, books, moves and cancels in Google Calendar, puts urgent callers through to a number you choose, texts booking links during the call, and sends a summary and transcript by app notification or email.

Where Marlie's booking starts

Standard, at $99 for 500 minutes, adds calendar sync with real-time availability, rescheduling, transfers to one team number, and up to three actions per call. Canceling bookings for callers, and transfers to several people or departments, start on Pro ($199 for 1,000 minutes, then 30¢). Premium ($399 for 2,000 minutes) adds a dedicated account manager and a team ring where staff hear who's calling before they accept.

A dashboard or the app

Marlie is set up on the web: create an account, paste your website or Google Business listing so it can build your receptionist, then forward your number to the Marlie number it gives you. Its guided setup includes a test call. Juney is set up in the app the same way, website first and a test call before customers reach her, but everything after that, from call notes to settings, stays on your phone too.

Calendars and languages

Marlie books into Google Calendar or Calendly once you're on Standard. Its pricing page doesn't list languages. Juney books into Google Calendar only and speaks English, with an American, British or Australian voice.

How do the bills add up?

At 30 and 75 two-minute calls, both stay on their $49 entry plans, and Marlie leaves you 100 or more minutes spare. At 150 calls Marlie's Basic plan is $66.50 (300 minutes, 50 past its allowance, at 35¢) and Juney $89 (300 minutes: the 150 included plus two $20 top-ups). Those Marlie bills are for a plan that doesn't book or transfer.

Price both on plans that book and put callers through, and Marlie is $99 at all three volumes, against Juney's $49, $49 and $89. Juney costs less up to 175 calls ($89 against $99). From there Marlie's 500-minute plan costs less up to about 320 calls. Past that the cheaper one changes every few dozen calls, because Juney's top-ups come in steps of 100 minutes. AI Answering Service Pricing Compared prices the same volumes across 11 services, both ways.

How do you switch from Marlie to Juney?

  1. Start a trial before you cancel. Juney's 7-day trial includes 50 minutes, enough to run it alongside Marlie for a week.
  2. Set Juney up in the app. Link your website (or type a short description if Marlie learned from your Google Business listing), check what she found, and call her yourself.
  3. Set what happens on each kind of call. If Marlie only took messages, decide now which calls Juney should book into Google Calendar and which she should put through.
  4. Move your forwarding. Your number forwards to the Marlie number today; follow the app's steps to forward it to Juney instead. Customers keep ringing the same number.
  5. Read the first week of call notes, then cancel Marlie. It has no long-term contract.
