Best AI Answering Service for Roofers in 2026: Storm Calls to Quotes

The best AI answering service for roofers puts storm leaks through, books inspections and holds its price in a storm month. A dated AI receptionist comparison.

TL;DR

  • For a roofer, the best AI answering service puts "rain's coming through the ceiling" through, books inspections and replacement quotes, and doesn't double your bill when a hailstorm fills the phone. Each service we checked (October 2026) suits a different roofing business.
  • Price your storm month, not your average one: overage decides the bill.
  • On JobNimbus or Jobber? Their own receptionists work inside that software.
  • Juney is $49 a month with 150 minutes, run from a phone app. Limits: calls only, Google Calendar only, English, four countries, no human backup.

Roofing calls come in waves. A quiet week brings a few replacement quotes and a skylight drip; the morning after hail or high wind brings leak calls, inspection requests and "my insurer says I need someone to look at it", all while you're in a harness on somebody else's roof.

Which AI answering service (AI receptionist) is best for a roofer in 2026?

The best one gets an active leak to a person, books inspections into the days you're free, tells callers your inspection fee, and doesn't double your bill in storm season. As of October 2026, each service we checked is strongest at something different:

  • Your jobs live in JobNimbus: its AssistAI agent works inside JobNimbus, adds notes and tasks to your contacts, and can transfer calls.
  • Your jobs live in Jobber: Jobber's $29 Receptionist add-on books into your Jobber schedule.
  • Storm months with hundreds of calls: Beside's $99 plan has no call cap (US and Canada lines only), and Marlie's $99 plan includes 500 minutes.
  • Repeat callers chasing the same claim: Goodcall bills per different caller, not per minute.
  • A person on the hard calls: Smith.ai adds live agents per call; at Ruby, people take every call.
  • An owner-operator who runs everything from the phone, in the US, UK, Australia or Canada: Juney. You set her up in a phone app, and Ring me first rings you in the Juney app before she answers.

The roofing answering service page plays three calls from storm week with Juney: a leak at 11:52 PM, a hail inspection booked for Thursday, and missing shingles written up for a callback.

How do the main AI answering services compare for roofers in 2026?

The last column says which kind of roofing business each one suits. The second column is the cheapest plan we found that both books and transfers, checked on each vendor's own pages on 22 October 2026; prices are US dollars a month.

We read JobNimbus's help center for AssistAI; its product page didn't load for us, so its price is left out. We didn't check AccuLynx.

Will a leak call at midnight reach someone who can tarp it?

With most of these services it can, if transfers are on the plan you buy and the service is answering at night. As of October 2026, Upfirst lists transfers on every plan and Beside on both web plans; Dialzara's $29 plan has blind transfers; Marlie's transfers start at $99 and Rosie's at $149. JobNimbus lets you type the conditions that should send a call to a person, and Jobber's Receptionist listens for keywords you choose.

Juney puts urgent callers through on both plans. In an emergency scenario you list the phrases homeowners use ("rain's coming through the ceiling", "a tree came down on the roof", "the ceiling's sagging"), the questions to ask first (is water coming in right now, what's the address), and the number to ring. Juney rings that number first and tells whoever answers who's calling and why. If they take it, she connects the caller and leaves the call; if not, she comes back to the caller and takes a message. That number has to be different from the business line you forward to her, so give her the crew lead's mobile or whoever's on call.

One setting decides night calls: Answering schedule. If nights go to voicemail, Juney answers with your voicemail greeting, the caller leaves a recorded message, and she can't put anyone through. For storm nights, choose Juney, always or Juney after hours only. Can an AI Answering Service Handle Emergency Calls After Hours? covers the setup and how to test it.

What to check: on the trial, call your business number from another phone at night, say "water's dripping through the bedroom ceiling", and see which phone rings.

What happens to the bill when a storm fills your phone?

A storm month is where roofing bills split apart, because every plan charges differently past its allowance. Per-minute plans charge each extra minute, per-call plans each extra call, Goodcall each new caller; Rosie moves you up a plan, and Beside's $29 plan stops at 30 AI-answered calls (as of October 2026). Find out which before the first hailstorm, not after.

With Juney, minutes past 150 come as top-ups of 100 minutes for $20, bought in the app, and calls you take yourself use none. On a day when you're re-roofing and can't take anything, switch Ringing mode to Straight to Juney so homeowners don't wait through the app's Ring me first alert.

Storm callers also ask the same things over and over: "How soon can you get here?", "Do you work with insurance?", "Are you booked out?". Add your answers under FAQs and change them in the app as the week goes on. Juney doesn't handle claims or tell callers what their policy covers; she says what you've written and sends you the details.

Will it book inspections and replacement quotes, or just take a message?

Most can book the inspection, though several only on a plan above their entry one. As of October 2026, Upfirst books on every plan, Marlie and Dialzara from $99 and Rosie from $149; Rosie's $49 plan texts the homeowner a booking link instead. JobNimbus's AssistAI books through Google Calendar and adds notes and tasks in JobNimbus, and Jobber's Receptionist books into Jobber.

Juney books, moves and cancels inspections in Google Calendar on both plans, checking your free time first, so a homeowner who asks for Thursday morning only gets it if you're free. She can text your booking link instead while they're on the line, and when she has their email, Google sends them a calendar invite. Three limits matter to a roofer:

  • Google Calendar only. If your jobs live in roofing software, you'd copy her bookings across from each call summary.
  • One booking length. A leak inspection and a full replacement quote get the same slot, so set it for your usual visit.
  • Bookings inside your hours. A 10 PM hail caller can take a free slot tomorrow when Juney is answering at night; if your Answering schedule sends the call to voicemail, it becomes a message.

What to check: book a test inspection for next week and make sure it lands in the calendar you check before you load the truck.

What does it say when a caller asks what an inspection costs?

A well set up AI receptionist quotes the fee you gave it, says repairs are priced after the inspection, and offers the visit. Nobody can price a roof over the phone, so that call's job is to book the inspection.

In Juney you add services under Services & pricing: your inspection fee (or that inspections are free), any flat-rate repairs you're happy to quote, and roof replacement with the price left blank. A blank price gets "we'll confirm the price". She doesn't estimate a job herself. The help center shows how to teach Juney your services and prices.

What to check: ask your inspection fee, then "how much for a new roof on a three-bedroom house?". You should hear your number, then a promise that you'll confirm the second.

Can you set it up and fix it from the roof?

From the ground, at least, and from your phone. When we checked on 20 October 2026, Beside was built around its app and Rosie paired an app with its web dashboard. Upfirst, Goodcall, Smith.ai, Dialzara and Marlie run their setup in a browser or web dashboard. JobNimbus sets up AssistAI from the Marketing tab in JobNimbus, and Jobber says Receptionist settings work on the web or in its mobile app.

It matters in storm season, because your answers change by the day: you stop taking new inspections for two weeks, or you start a waitlist. If changing that needs a laptop, the old answer stays on the phone.

Juney's setup runs in the app:

  1. Link your website so Juney learns your services, inspection fee and hours, then correct what she got wrong.
  2. Ring her yourself and play a homeowner: a leak through the ceiling, an inspection fee question, a replacement quote for Friday.
  3. Add your scenarios: active leaks put through, inspections booked, everything else written up.
  4. Forward your calls, following the steps the app shows for your carrier.

Every call then arrives as a summary and transcript on your phone, so a wrong answer gets fixed between jobs.

Can you still answer the homeowners you want to talk to?

When a storm-damage call arrives on a roof, Juney and Beside can ring you in their apps before the AI answers. Juney's Ring me first gives you about 15 seconds. As of October 2026, Rosie, Goodcall and Upfirst can receive all forwarded calls; to answer first, use carrier no-answer forwarding, which lets the carrier set the wait. Jobber adds 10 seconds on its side after the carrier's delay. An answering-service carrier guide lists Verizon's wait as fixed at about 30 seconds; Verizon advises turning off Live Voicemail for conditional forwarding.

In Juney's Ringing mode, turn on Ring me first. You get about 15 seconds: take the call when you're on the ground, let it ring when you're on the ridge, and Juney answers. Calls you take yourself use none of your minutes. The ring comes through the Juney app, so stay signed in; signed out, she answers straight away.

What will a roofer pay in a storm month and a quiet one?

Take a month after a big hailstorm: 250 calls averaging 2 minutes (500 minutes) from about 225 different callers, on each service's cheapest plan with booking and transfers. Prices are as of October 2026, before tax and carrier charges:

  • Beside: $99 (Unlimited; 250 calls is far past the $29 plan's 30).
  • Marlie: $99 (500 minutes).
  • Juney: $129 ($49 plus four $20 top-ups), less for every call you take yourself.
  • Goodcall: $129 (Growth, 500 callers; Starter plus overage would be $177.75).
  • Rosie: $149 (1,000 minutes).
  • Upfirst: $159.95 (Pro, 300 calls).
  • Dialzara: $199 (Plus, 500 minutes).
  • Smith.ai: $500 (Pro's 300-call bundle).
  • Ruby: $1,725 for 500 minutes.
  • Jobber Receptionist: $29 on top of your Jobber plan, with no allowance listed. JobNimbus's price wasn't on the pages we could read.

A winter month looks different. At 50 calls (100 minutes, about 40 callers), Juney is $49, Upfirst $54.95, Smith.ai's free plan with overages on $75 and Goodcall $79, while Beside, Marlie and Dialzara stay at $99 and Rosie at $149. Price the month after your worst storm last year, then your quietest.

Where does Juney fit for a roofing business, and where doesn't it?

Juney fits an owner-operator roofer who wants calls answered from a phone app: storm leaks put through, inspections booked into Google Calendar, your inspection fee stated as you set it, and Ring me first ringing you in the Juney app when you want it. It's the wrong pick if your leads must land in JobNimbus, AccuLynx or Jobber, homeowners text you as much as they call, you need another calendar or language, you want a live person as backup, or your line is outside the US, UK, Australia and Canada. Team accounts are coming soon.

As of October 2026, Juney costs $49 a month or $490 a year paid upfront, with 150 minutes a month on either plan (about 75 calls, by Juney's estimate), then top-ups of 100 minutes for $20, bought in the app, which don't expire. The 7-day free trial comes with 50 answering minutes, and there's no setup fee or contract. Customers keep ringing your number because you forward it. Juney is built by Trillet, the voice AI platform trusted by over 4,000 businesses. See Juney's plans and free trial and price them against your storm month.

Frequently Asked Questions

No. Juney can take the damage details as a message, but the only link she can text is your booking link, shared across scenarios.

How do I stop Juney booking inspections during a two-day tear-off?

Put the job in your Google Calendar as busy for both days. Juney checks your calendar and only offers free times inside your business hours, so callers get the next open slot after the job.

Can I change what Juney tells callers when I'm booked out after a storm?

Yes, from the app, as often as you need. Update your answer under FAQs ("we're booking inspections from the 14th") and Juney gives callers the new answer from then on.
